The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has issued a warning to investors, potential and emerging businesses and business organisations, as well as the public at large, of a bogus incentive scheme allegedly involving the department that is circulating on the internet.
A fraudulent letter bearing the DTI’s logo and branding is doing the rounds via email and being circulated worldwide. The letter promises investments worth millions and claims to be written by the department’s Director General. However, the DTI emphatically denied that this is the case. No scheme in the DTI requires a payment by beneficiaries prior to approval, as is claimed by this scam.
The DTI is currently investigating the origin of this fraudulent letter.
